Veterans Resources Available in Tahlequah
The United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee Indians in Oklahoma has a representative available to assist veterans. Jacob Littledave is the UKB Tribal Veterans Representative and his office is located in the UKB Wellness Center, located at the UKB Tribal complex on Keetoowah Circle off of West Willis Road in Tahlequah.
Littledave is in the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am to 4pm assisting veterans with their claims, filing claims and assisting in social security applications. On Wednesdays and Fridays, Littledave is at the Veterans Regional Of-fice filing claims or checking on status of claims. For assistance, please contact Littledave at (918) 772-4384.
Littledave is also more than willing to at-tend UKB community meetings and answer any questions tribal members may have. Littledave said he makes monthly reports at UKB councilmeetings and address any issues or concerns members may have. The UKB Tribal Veterans Representative assists ALL veterans, not just trib-al members; this is Chief Wickliffe’s policy
Another source of services for Native American combat veterans is also available in Tahlequah.
Matthew Tiger, readjustment counselor, is available to help with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, other mental health issues dealing with combat, and see families with a combat veteran and help with family bereavement.
Tiger is located in the Human Services department of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma complex outside of Tahlequah on Highway 62.
For more information call Tiger at 1-800-256-0671 ext. 5693 (office), 918-822-2563 (cell) or e-mail him at matthew-tiger@cherokee.org.
